How to play Number Line Jump
Your character stands on a number line. Read the jump direction, size, and count. Jump left or right to reach the target. Check your answer, then try again if needed.
- Choose Start Adventure or pick a practice mode.
- Read the instruction, for example “Start at 15. Jump RIGHT by 5, 4 times.”
- Tap either Jump button to move. The counter shows how many jumps you have made.
- Tap Check when you have landed. Start over returns to the starting number.
Difficulty levels
- Skip Counting — Count by 2s, 5s, or 10s. For example: Start at 15. Jump RIGHT by 5, 4 times.
- Negative Numbers — Cross zero and land below it. For example: Start at 3. Jump LEFT 7 times.
- Fraction Jumps — Move along the line in halves. For example: Start at 0. Jump RIGHT by ½, 4 times.
- Word Problems — Model a word problem. For example: Temperature was 3°C. It dropped 8 degrees.
For parents
- The number line helps children picture arithmetic. Finding negative numbers helps them understand subtraction across zero.
- There is no timer. Let your child count each jump aloud. Counting is part of the practice.
- Negative Numbers and Word Problems are genuinely grade 4-5 work. Start with Skip Counting for a younger child.
In the classroom
- A round has eight questions and no timer. Students set their own pace.
