How to play Fraction Pizza
Each round shows a target fraction, like 3/8. Add and remove pizza slices until the topped portion matches the target, then submit to see if you're right. The visual, hands-on format builds real number sense for numerators and denominators instead of rote memorization.
- Press Start Adventure. A round is 8 questions and there is no timer — take as long as you need.
- Read the target, for example “Build 3/8 of a pizza”.
- Tap slices to add or remove toppings until the topped part of the pizza matches the target fraction.
- Press Submit to check. A wrong answer shows the right one, so a mistake turns into the explanation.
Difficulty levels
- Easy (Grade 3) — Build a fraction on a pizza cut into halves, quarters or eighths. For example: Build 3/8 of a pizza
- Medium (Grade 4) — Spot equivalent fractions. For example: Which fraction equals 1/2?
- Hard (Grade 5) — Compare two fractions with unlike denominators. For example: Which is larger, 3/8 or 3/4?
For parents
- Ask your child to say the fraction out loud before they tap: “three of the eight slices” is the idea, “three eighths” is the name for it.
- When they get one wrong, cover the screen and ask them to draw the same pizza on paper. The area model is the thing being learned, not the app.
- There is no timer here on purpose. If your child rushes, slowing down costs them nothing.
In the classroom
- An 8-question round takes about three to five minutes, which fits a warm-up or a station rotation.
- The difficulty adapts within a round, so one link works for a mixed-ability group without you setting anything up.
